Kyoto Kintame – Meals Sake Tokyo

Tsukemono Japanese pickles

Way back I lived in Monzennakacho in Tokyo. A brief stroll from my house was essentially the most charming tsukemono pickle store from Kyoto known as Kintame 近為. Kintame sits simply in entrance of Fukagawa Fudodo temple. I typically went to Kintame for the bubucha-zuke lunch. Greater than a dozen pickles is served with a grilled fish, miso soup, and rice. For me it’s certainly one of my most comforting and scrumptious meals.

Greens pickled so some ways and for various lengths of time. Tremendous intense Nara-zuke taking years to make and nuka-zuke rice bran fermented pickles. Accents for the tsukemono embrace wasabi, sansho, and karashi Japanese mustard.

The meal is in regards to the many expressions of the greens after which vast swath of flavors and textures. I additionally love the presentation. At this lunch 16 completely different pickles have been served. The pickles are offered within the entrance of the restaurant and diners should buy with a ten% low cost.

Sadly Kintame in Monzennakacho is barely a retail store today. I imagine this occurred throughout the pandemic. It’s my dream that sometime it reopens in Tokyo. Till then I look ahead to journeys to Kyoto for my nostalgic recollections being woke up. Extremely suggest this lunch spot. Reservations are required because it’s a small store. It’s on the far north aspect of the town, on the best way to Kinkakuji, the Golden Pavilion. I took the bus to Senbon Imadegawa bus cease.

I wrote about Kintame, which began in 1879, for my Kyoto Go To Record:
