Kyoto Mingei Museum – Meals Sake Tokyo

Followers of mingei, conventional people artwork, will wish to go to the previous home of Kanjiro Kawai in Kyoto. Behind the house is his kiln for firing his ceramics. The home additionally consists of many pretty mingei items on show in addition to the rooms of his residence. It was pretty to go to on a sunny day as pure daylight fills lots of the rooms.

The mingei motion was began by #SoetsuYanagi, #ShojiYamada, and #KanjiroKawai. The folks craft items are made to complement each day lives, to not be placed on show and saved for particular events. A few of my favourite mingei items embrace #Ontayaki pottery. In Tokyo @sono_mono is a stunning gallery with an excellent collection of Ontayaki pottery from Oita prefecture. I like the feel of the glaze on Ontayaki.

Within the entrance are a number of books and magazines (in Japanese and English) and a quiet seating space. Notice that the house will not be heated so costume warmly in winter.
