Taimeiken is a well-known yoshoku restaurant recognized for its omuraisu omelette over a ketchup seasoned rice. The Tampopo omuraisu comes from the Juzo Itami film Tampopo and it’s mentioned that is the recipe that was utilized in Tampopo.

The menu is lengthy and consists of beef stew (seems to be superb), hayashi rice – like a beef stew, and fried oysters which got here with potato salad, cole slaw, and tomato spaghetti. The borscht soup was served in a small bowl and the right dimension for lunch with the heartier dishes.

My piece on #Taimeiken and third-generation chef Motegi for the Individuals Make Locations e book:
The present location is non permanent as their final location is being torn down and rebuilt. They’re schedule to maneuver into a brand new constructing in about two years. For those who love omuraisu or yoshoku remember to put Taimeiken in your radar. A traditional yoshoku restaurant in Tokyo. The primary ground is the informal restaurant the second ground is an upscale restaurant.
